In all seriousness, he means that it’s the culmination of his lifetimes' work – a career that’s made him Australia’s most awarded boat builder. You would be hard pressed to find another luxury cruiser of this size with the volume and accommodation the 52 Enclosed provides, with a state room, VIP guest cabin and bunk cabin, two heads and separate shower stalls. The master suite feels homely and spacious and enjoys a private ensuite bathroom, all with impressive features and luxury appointments.
The aft galley and spacious saloon are accessed through glass sliding doors, the opulent appointments throughout allude to the air of luxury. The starboard side door opens out to the wide recessed walk-arounds and allows a lovely breeze to come through on those days where the A/C isn’t quite needed.
The well-equipped galley is in the aft starboard section of the deck level. It is positioned to serve forward to the saloon, aft out the sliding doors to the cockpit or across to the stairs to the bridge. The galley is important in a family motor yacht, particularly when spending extended time aboard and as such it’s fitted with a domestic proportioned fridge, dishwasher and ample storage. The galley’s central position to the social spaces on the vessel ensures inclusivity when preparing meals, as with a modern home. One of the many unique features of the Maritimo is the interior stairs to the enclosed bridge which bring the two living spaces seamlessly together and means taking a drink or a dish to the flybridge is an easy task.
The flybridge is another saloon it itself ensuring it’s a social gathering upstairs, not just a functional space for the skipper to operate the boat alone. The rear helm position allows the skipper to look forward and be part of the conversation taking place at the L-settee forward. When spending a lot of time onboard the enclosed flybridge allows for comfort and protection from the elements or spray if punching into a stiff breeze offshore. This penthouse-style flybridge is surrounded by large glass panels allowing wonderful visibility to the surrounds and a bird's eye view to the waterway below. This really is a second saloon boasting a fridge and sink to avoid having to go down below for a refill. The aft sliding doors open to the upper deck which is adorned with teak and a sunshade this creating a parents escape for that private sundowner. These design elements of the enclosed bridge with internal stairs and a rear upper deck really set the Maritimo apart from other boats in this market and make this a true family cruiser.
Back on deck level one of the most desirable things you get on a Maritimo 52 is the deep wide walk-around decks. These decks make this boat very safe for the crew, family, guests, and pets to move around the boat with great ease and security, particularly if offshore. The easy access to the foredeck also allows this area to be utilised to its maximum potential and once again creates another space for the family and guests to spend their time. The foredeck boasts a late model tender which is easily launched and retrieved by the electric davit. The aft teak cockpit has a large entertainment area with ample space for outdoor dining or game fishing alike. Unique to Maritimo’s in this vintage, the built in BBQ, sink and cool box make this space usable with minimal fuss. The latches in the deck offer easy access to the masses of lazarette storage for water sports or deck furniture when not in use. The waterfront playground continues aft to the generous swim platform that cleverly includes some additional storage lockers.
Under the teak cockpit sole you will find the expansive engine bay, there is masses of room for any engine works and makes for a clean, safe and accessible environment. This Maritimo 52 is equipped with a pair of Cummins 715hp engines with only approximately 1250hrs on them and an Onan generator to provide 240v power to the vessel.
